Five NCS Teams Compete in 2016 Howe Cup, B Team Reaches Final

National Capital Squash sponsored five teams to play in the 2016 U.S. Women’s Team National Championships, held in Chelsea Piers, Stamford CT the weekend of Nov 11-13.

A team

The National Capital ACES played in a round robin format against five other A teams, ultimately winning two contests and losing three. On Friday they defeated a Connecticut team 4-1, and lost to a Boston team 1-4. On Saturday they lost to the New York team that ultimately won the Cup, 0-5, and again to a Philadelphia team 2-3. On Sunday they defeated a very tough “Gabler’s Gang” Connecticut team 3-2. High School Team Scholarships Deadline January 4, 2017 »

National Capital Squash (NCS) is pleased to announce a scholarship program to encourage high school varsity or club teams to participate in the US SQUASH 2017 National High School Championships.

The High School Championships offers divisions for teams at all skill levels.  Even if your team has never played in a team tournament, you will be placed in a division that should provide good competition.

There are up to two scholarships for up to two teams.  Each scholarship would be for up to $1500 to pay for entry fees and a portion of other expenses.

Here are the eligibility requirements:

The school has not sent any team to any prior US SQUASH High School Championship.
The team must have played team matches recorded in the US SQUASH database against other teams (ideally, at least four such matches prior to the seeding of the High School Championship).

NCS Fields Five Teams at 2015 U. S. Women’s Team Championship (Howe Cup)

National Capital Squash sent five teams in four divisions to the 2015 Howe Cup, held at the Murr Center courts of Harvard University in Boston, MA. This was the largest ever Howe Cup, with more than 250 women from all over the country and Canada participating in the three-day event November 7-9.

The NCS A team featured Baltimore high school senior Casey Wong at #1, the only woman returning from the 2014 Howe Cup championship A team. Howe Cup newcomer Chanel Erasmus, a recent Trinity graduate, was recruited to play #2. Recent George Washington University graduate and Colombia native Maria Porras played in her first Howe Cup at #3. National hardball season kicks off in DC — Omar Sobhy captures Cardinal title »

The US Squash Hardball Singles season got off to a GREAT start at the 12th Annual Cardinal in D.C. the weekend of November 8.  There was a significant new hardball entry -- Sabrina Sobhy -- the reigning US Squash Women’s National Champion! So now, hardballers can count both the US Squash Men’s and Women’s National Champions as hardball enthusiasts and promoters of hardball singles play, as both GREAT fun and an enhancement to soft ball performance. 

Sabrina rapidly and progressively evolved as a hardballer.  She defeated several hardball veterans before falling to her brother, 23 year old Omar Sobhy, the Pro at the Metropolitan Club, a highly ranked 6.0 softballer.

This year’s opening hardball singles tournament was played on the Met’s magnificent glass back walled, traditional hardball court.  Omar’s and Sabrina’s match came in the semi-finals.  Not surprisingly, it attracted quite a crowd. 18 year [...Read More...]
